ROGUES GALLERY
The character of Batman is famous for having an extensive catalogue of enemies. I wanted to explore the designs and personalities of a couple of these characters by adapting them to 3D. This was a great way to exercise retaining the core aspects of each character's design while also discovering new depth through a 3D medium. I created these works in a vertical format to emphasize that these are indeed portraits and character studies first and foremost.
Harley Quinn's original cartoon design from Batman: The Animated Series is an efficient and simple design that hasn't yet effectively transitioned to the big screen. I wanted to figure out how the cloth and stitching of this costume may actually behave if it were real, and introduce textures that wouldn't have been apparent in a 2D animated world.
Mr. Freeze is a tragic villain with a sympathetic backstory. I wanted to depict the sense of isolation and regret that this character evokes, while giving his suit cool details that ground the design in a believable world.
